Jeff Benatar's composition "Hank and Joe" was recently called "superb" and "intense" by JazzTimes Magazine (November 2016).
Jeff Benatar is a Jazz Pianist with a passion for teaching. Benatar is currently an adjunct faculty member at Central State University where he teaches the Private Applied Jazz Piano Studio, conducts the Jazz Lab Band, instructs Jazz Keyboard Harmony II (class piano), and is redesigning, implementing, and creating the curriculum for the Recording Studio Practicum.
Benatar received his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Jazz Studies (Piano) and Contemporary Media from the Eastman School of Music, with a minor in Pedagogy. He earned his MA at the world's only Jazz History and Research program at Rutgers-Newark, The State University of New Jersey, where wrote a Master's thesis at the Institute of Jazz Studies (for which he received a research award). Benatar was the first Jazz Piano Performance student at The Ohio State University to graduate with Honors.
